COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Scary moments for a driver in the Falcon area last night. Colorado Springs Police say they were notified by a driver that a man impersonating Colorado Springs Police was pulled over yesterday evening. The driver says they were pulled over in the area of Falcon Hwy. and Hwy. 24 at about 6 p.m. The impersonator told the driver they were speeding. When the driver offered their information from a relative, the impersonator returned to his vehicle and drove away. The man, described in his 40s or 50s with a heavy build and dark hair with gray streaks, was dressed in all black with a name tag that read, “Smith.” He was driving a dark sedan with red and blue emergency lights on the dash. Police say if you are being stopped and doubt it is a real police officer, contact the non emergency number (719)-444-7000 for area law enforcement to confirm the legitimacy of the stop, while keeping your hands visible, and explaining you are verifying the stop.
