I feel like it has been too long since we have heard from Highly Suspect so tonight’s cover is off their 2016 release The Boy Who Died Wolf, the tune Send Me An Angel originally from the band Real Life. From what I can gather Real Life was basically a one-hit wonder and Send Me An Angel was that hit. Highly Suspect’s version is very low key, but at this point I will take anything from the band to tide me over until their show in August at the Ogden. Guns N’ Roses are on a European leg of their massive Not In This Lifetime tour and they had a stop in Berlin over the weekend. During the show the band decided to shake up their set list and they played a cover of Velvet Revolver’s Slither. The tune is well known to the band since Velvet Revolver contained many current and former members of GNR. Unfortunately the only video we have was shot with a cellphone in the crowd so the audio isn’t perfect but it’s still great to hear Axl belt out the words. Take a listen! For...read more
Middle Class Rut are back on the scene after 5 years from their last album, Pick Up Your Head. I loved their first two releases and I am excited to hear the new album and see them live at the Black Sheep in July. Before that happens let’s get caught back up with a cover off of Pick Up Your Head, a rousing rendition of Tom Petty’s I Need To Know from his sophomore release You’re Gonna Get It!. This song packs a lot of kick ass in two and a half minutes. Take a listen and then catch Middle Class Rut live! For more Hump The...read more
Five Finger Death Punch dropped their newest album And Justice For None last Friday. It includes two covers, Gone Away, the Offspring cover which was also on their greatest hits album and a cover of Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s Blue On Black. I’ve already feature the Offspring cover so now it’s time for the other! The original was a monster hit in 1998, it dominated the airwaves and we still play it on Kilo to this day. FFDP keep the soulful bluesy feeling of the original but throw in some of their signature Death Punch sound....read more
Australian rockers Parkway Drive just dropped their latest album Reverence last week and announced a show at the Ogden in September so let’s celebrate with a rare sight, the band doing a cover tune! They threw down on Rage Against The Machine’s Bulls On Parade back in 2015 at one of the biggest European rock festivals Rock am Ring. Parkway Drive absolutely kill it and the sweeping shots of the crowd gave me goosebumps. Take a listen! For more Hump The Covers Off check out my blog...read more
