Ox's Blog: Hump The Covers Off with Foo's, Manson, NIN – Down In The Park
I have to admit I fell down a rabbit hole with this week’s cover. And I found a few versions so good that I decided to share them all. In late 70’s there was a band called Tubeway Army which featured Gary Numan on vocals. The bands second album, Replicas, had a tune called Down In The Park. In the mid-90’s the Foo Fighters covered Down In The Park for an X-Files album titled Songs In The Key of X. It also found it’s way onto the single for Monkey Wrench as a b-side and onto the covers compilation Medium Rare which was a Record Store Day release in 2011. Marilyn Manson also covered the tune and you can find it as a b-side for the single Lunchbox which was released in the early 90’s. I’ve included both of those versions below and even though they are the same song they are very different and awesome in their own way! Finally I found a live version of Down In The Park filmed during a NIN show that has Gary Numan on guesting on vocals. So let’s take a trip down the rabbit hole together and rock out!
