(RTTNews) – NBC says that its critically-acclaimed comedy “30 Rock” will not be renewed after next season; in addition, its seventh and final season will air only 13 episodes with a one-hour special closing out the run.
“I know Tina, Alec [Baldwin] and the rest will deliver some of their best work,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said, according to Deadline. “We think the world of Tina and hope she will be in the NBC family for years to come.”
A day earlier, Greenblatt had said that there was no decision regarding the fate of the show.
“How are you feeling about next season being the last season of ’30 Rock?'” one fan tweeted to Baldwin, 54, last week.
“The time is nigh,” Baldwin responded.
The 2012-2013 season at NBC looks to feature at least two new programs: “Crossbones,” a pirate drama; and, “Mockingbird Lane,” which is touted as a “Munsters” remake.
